Blade | POGO | Tube Delivery

The VCI score is made up of three components which succinctly describe the key practically useful elements of tracheal intubation using videolaryngoscopy in the order in which they are performed.

The video below was originally presented at the DAS 2021 Online Conference Industry Educational Session: The VCI score (KARL STORZ Endoscopy (UK) Ltd) on Friday 5th November 2021.

Notes for POGO:

Please record the POGO at the moment of intubation attempt (which may not necessarily be the same as the initial or best view obtained).

Notes for Tube Delivery:

‘Easy’ indicates that tube delivery was simple and straightforward or as the manufacturer has intended for the videolaryngoscope. ‘Difficult’ is everything between the two extremes of ‘Easy’ and ‘Failed’ and indicates that something ‘else’ had to be done to enable tube delivery. ‘Failed’ indicates that tube delivery was not possible. Details should be provided for ‘Difficult’ and ‘Failed’ tube deliveries.
